Istock 000002278170xsmallDo you import machinery, equipment or goods into Canada for further manufacturing? Tariff-relief measures announced in March, 2010 have cut the total number of manufacturing items that are subject to customs duties by 75%.

In 2009, tariff-relief measures were taken by the federal government, leaving 1,541 manufacturing items subject to tariff. Budget 2010 has now removed the tariffs on 1,160 of these items. The remaining 381 items will also have their tariffs cut by January 1, 2015.

Do you want to know the rate of duty for a product that you import? You can search the Customs Tariff, which has been updated by Canada Border Services Agency to reflect the latest relief measures.

Are you looking for a specific list of the 1,160 manufacturing items that are now tariff-free? The Notice of Ways and Means Motion to Amend the Customs Tariff section of Budget 2010 - Annex 5 (found near the bottom of the page) lists the items by HS code.
