Interprovincial/Interterritorial Trade

As a business owner residing in one province or territory, you can still compete for government contracts in other regions of the country.

Agreement on Internal Trade

A good starting point when considering interprovincial trade is awareness of the Agreement on Internal Trade. This agreement reduces obstacles for the free movement of persons, goods, services and investments within Canada.

Under the agreement, you can compete for contracts with a value greater than:

• $25,000 for goods
• $100,000 for services
• $100,000 for construction

Not all services are covered by this agreement, such as those provided by doctors, dentists, engineers, financial analysts, advertising services and social services, and more. Please refer to the agreement for more details.
