ecoAgriculture Biofuels Capital Initiative (ecoABC)

If you are a Canadian agricultural producer, you can receive up to $25 million to build or expand a biofuel factory using agricultural materials to make fuel for transportation.

To qualify, you need to:

  • build the facility in Canada
  • supply 5% of the costs of the construction project
  • maintain your investment in the factory for at least two years after construction is completed and the facility starts producing biofuel
  • use plant material, like corn or grasses, to produce fuel like ethanol or biodiesel
  • have an environmental assessment done
  • produce at least three million litres of biodiesel or five million litres of ethanol fuel per year

You have to repay this money. The program ends on March 31, 2011.
