Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about the color palette generator.

Upload any photo and the Jukebox color palette generator pulls its most dominant colors and returns a full palette in seconds. Drag and drop a file, upload from your computer, or paste an image URL. Every color comes with its HEX, RGB, HSL, CMYK, and Pantone values, and you can open any color to explore its shades, tints, and harmonies. It works with photos, logos, screenshots, product shots, and mood boards.

Yes. It is completely free with no signup, no watermarks, and no usage limits. Generate as many palettes as you want, extract from as many photos as you need, and use the colors anywhere, including commercial work, brand identity, and print production.

It supports JPG, PNG, and WebP files. Upload from your computer, drag and drop, or paste an image URL. You can also drop up to 10 images at once to build a full brand palette from a photo set in a single pass.

You control the palette size. By default the generator returns a full palette pulled from the most dominant tones in your image, which suits most brand and design work. Use a smaller palette for a tight brand system, or a larger one for editorial and illustration projects.

Use a clear, well lit photo where the colors you care about fill real space in the frame. High resolution images with strong, distinct colors give the cleanest palettes, while dark, washed out, or very busy shots can come back muddy. For brand work, upload the real asset, a product shot, a logo, or a packaging photo.

It uses k-means clustering to group the pixels in your image and surface the most dominant, representative tones instead of random ones. It is the same engine behind our live Jukebox Color Index, the running record of the colors people extract most, so your palette reflects the real colors in your photo.

Yes. Click Download PDF report for a branded PDF of your palette with every color and its HEX, RGB, HSL, and CMYK values. It is generated instantly in your browser, free, and never watermarked. You can also copy any HEX code straight into Figma, Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign.

Yes. Every extracted color includes a CMYK value calculated for standard coated stock, ready to send straight to a printer. If you need to convert a single RGB value on its own, the Jukebox RGB to CMYK converter handles it in one click.

Yes. The generator maps every extracted color to its closest Pantone equivalent using CIEDE2000, the industry standard color difference formula. Pantone spot colors are mixed inks rather than a direct conversion, so for brand critical work, confirm the match against a physical Pantone book under standard lighting before going to press.

Yes. Every palette includes HEX, RGB, and HSL for screen and web alongside CMYK and Pantone for print, so the same palette carries across a website, an app, social graphics, and printed pieces. Before you ship, run key pairs through the contrast checker to keep text readable and accessible.

No. Your image stays in your browser and the color extraction runs on your own device, so the photo is never uploaded and we keep no copy of it. Only the resulting HEX codes are counted anonymously to power our live Jukebox Color Index, with no way to trace them back to your image. That makes the tool safe for confidential and unreleased brand work.

Yes. Individual colors and HEX values are not copyrightable, so everything you extract is yours to use however you want, with no licensing and no attribution required. That covers client work, brand identity, product packaging, marketing collateral, and print production.

Yes. Every palette comes with CMYK and Pantone values, so you can go straight from screen to press.
